The English novelist and spiritual writer C.S. Lewis once said, “I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless.” For many people today, especially men, prayer is difficult: it is difficult to find the time; it is difficult to know how; it is difficult because one does not appear to get anything out of it. Nonetheless, given our willingness to take on many challenges in life, perhaps we might be willing to take on this challenge as well: to pray regularly and fervently.
The presentation “Why Pray?” will explore the difficulties to prayer and offer some reflections on how to meet those difficulties…for those who are up to the challenge.
